Default necromancer/mesmer

quite possibly the hardest build imo

the 2 classes have nothing that compliments each other

yeah weaken and empathy don't compliment each other well at all
Nor does spirit tap allow you to keep casting your life stealing spells.
Neither does hexing someone in a bunched group with mark of pain and then using Shatter Hex

There are plenty of ways you can set up to compliment the skills of both professions. for me the point of taking these two professions is to strip your foes of thier abilitys and resistances or even turn their attacks against them - making the rest of your teams job easier and keeping yourself alive by stealing health and stripping energy and casting ability from enemies.

ENERGY tap doesn't work well if you are N/Me which is what you are.

That doesn't work either.

These ways require either too much attribute spread or are simply not cost efficient. And Me/N is preferred combination here.

me/n and nec/mes are worthless anyway with the exception of a few builds(read:stop stacking hexes)

im convinced now - saying it doesn't work..mmmm.. and apologies for confusing ENERGY with spirit :-o - I don't see why it would work better if you were Me/N which you said was preferred?

I never ever said they were to be used in the same build. I gave them as examples of what could be used.

You left out the one that i actually use - weakness + empathy.

I don't mind you saying things don't work but please provide reasons. I can see why you might prefer fastcasting over soulreaping though.

What is so bad about this build? I have a level 8 of it, only died once
I go for blood magic for health up and illusion for damage .. easy

Honestly, I have to say that the necromancer and the mesmer compliment each other in a number of ways. I see almost no basis at all to claim they don't. Perhaps you haven't done your homework on this one? Just look through the skills directory. There are lots of combos you could theme a build around.
